Be Like Superman

Don’t Settle for Mediocrity

As you are settling back in your life post the holidays, this should not mean settling for status quo or mediocrity.

Having experienced an amazing journey of transformation in my work place over the past years, there still are so many new opportunities to continuously improve, and seek higher levels of excellence.

Real Life Superman

I want to encourage you today: that with hope, creativity, and hard work, anything is possible. If you want an outstanding example of this fact, remember the life of Christopher Reeve. Christopher Reeve went from portraying the iconic Superman Hero, to becoming a quadriplegic, dependent on a ventilator for breath and bound to his bed and wheelchair for the rest of his life. For Christopher, day-to-day life became a fight against the impossible. But even after losing so much – from being an acclaimed actor and competitive athlete to lose so much – he was known to say “Once you choose hope, anything’s possible.”

Choosing Hope and Excellence

It sounds to me like Mr. Reeve made the conscious, intentional choice to embrace excellence and not mediocrity in his difficult life circumstance. Christopher Reed choose hope. He became an advocate and difference maker for thousands of people with spinal cord injuries through the research, and support centers he co-founded. If Christopher Reeve can choose hope, and change our world, then our excellence tomorrow, can always be greater than today.
